5 Creative Ways to Spruce Up Your Facebook Cover Photo


You dreaded the day Facebook updated to its newest version with a cover photo, didn't you? But you most likely went through with it. Odds are, you got timelined.

The drastic profile redesign that was announced back in 2011 was a hotly debated topic among many Facebook users. Some embraced the change and signed up early to experience the new design, while others held out as long as they could until Facebook finally made it mandatory for everyone.

I'm proud to say that I was one of the few brave souls who embraced timeline. In fact, I thought it was an awesome improvement and a way to finally personalize a Facebook profile...and guess what? I still believe this today.

No matter how hard we try, we cannot avoid Facebook's frequent updates and changes. It's time to embrace these Facebook changes and use them to get creative and express yourself.

Among the major design changes the one that stands out the most is the cover photo. The old saying "don't judge a book by its cover" is completely irrelevant when it comes to Facebook. Your cover photo should depict exactly who you are (like this guy's!). So here are five awesome tips to make the most of your timeline and cover photo and show off your creativity.

Which Links Get the Most Retweets?

Great news.  There actually is a secret sauce in social media.  In a recent study done by Diffbot Page Classifier, 750,000 links were posted to Twitter in order to determine what type of links were retweeted the most.  The results? It's all about images! Those tweets that contained an image were more likely to be retweeted and shared throughout the social media world.  

But is this all that surprising?  Probably not.  2012 has been the year of the image--with new apps like Instagram, social media sites like Pinterest, even the obsession of the infographic.  We can't seem to get enough pictures, animations, images and photos...so why not share them?  By incorporating an image, you will have a greater chance of getting noticed in the social world!
